Electrical Design Technology (EDT), a small industrial electrical engineering company seeks a Financials/Bookkeeper position.

Works with project management to insure that all job cost data is properly entered, maintained, and reported as required. Is responsible for tax matters, budgeting, and cost management. Performs bookkeeping, general ledger functions; prepares financial reports and statements for CPA review, reconciles project balances.

Works with outside CPA firm to prepare annual fiscal year reviewed financial statements as required by financial institutions and other entities; that all corporate federal and state taxes are paid in a timely manner; and that all recommended adjustments to the General Ledger are entered as required

SKILLS INCLUDE: Experience with Quickbooks accounting software. General Ledger chart of accounts and cost coding is desirable. Working with construction general contractors and sub-contractors. Experience with using Microsoft Office Suites software, especially Excel Word, and Outlook.

  • Accounting/Bookkeeping : 5 years (Experience is Preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Construction experience will be a strong asset.
  • Ability to coordinate with vendors, clients and contractors, as well as interoffice communications
  • Quickbooks: A/R and A/P
  • Bank Reconciliations and financial reports and Job costing
  • Payroll data entry through electronic payroll company.
  • Construction experience STRONGLY preferred
  • Understanding of project flow from pre-construction through project completion
  • Lien waivers, insurance certificates.
  • Enters and tracks all accounts payable invoices on a daily basis and insures that they are approved and tied to the correct job subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Enters contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, insurance certificates as needed
  • Works with subcontractors and suppliers to insure compliance with written subcontract requirements as needed
  • Works with clients for timely collection of accounts receivables
  • Issues payment to all vendors and checks the accuracy of all invoicing and notarized lien releases as well as the receipt of correct insurance certificates for each subcontractor for each job before payment is released
  • Issues joint checks with subcontractors/suppliers as needed
  • Assists in creating and maintaining document retention systems for legal documents and assist in establishing standard operating procedures when it comes to finances both internally and externally
